State Environmental Agencies

The Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission (TNRCC)
The TNRCC is the lead environmental agency for Texas.  Its strives to protect the state's human and natural resources consistent with sustainable economic development. Its goal is clean air, clean water, and the safe management of waste.

The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB)
The TWDB is the state agency charged with statewide water planning and administration of low-cost financial programs for the planning, design and construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control and agricultural water conservation projects.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD)
It is TPW's mission to manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

General Land Office (GLO)
The GLO's mission is to serve the schoolchildren, veterans, and all people of Texas by preserving their history, protecting their environment,  expanding economic opportunity, and maximizing state revenue through innovative administration and prudent stewardship of state lands and resources.

Railroad Commission (RRC)
The RRC's mission is to serve Texas by; stewardship of natural resources and the environment, concern for personal and community safety, and support of enhanced development and economic vitality for the benefit of Texans

The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA)
TDA's duties include promoting Texas agricultural products locally, nationally and internationally; assisting in the development of the agribusiness industry in Texas; regulating the sale, use and disposal of pesticides and herbicides; controlling destructive plant pests and diseases; and ensuring the accuracy of all weighing or measuring devices used in commercial transactions.

Public Utilities Commission (PUC)
The mission of the Public Utility Commission of Texas is to protect customers, foster competition, and promote high quality infrastructure.

Texas Forest Service
The Texas Forest Service was created in 1915 by the 34th Legislature as an integral part of The Texas A&M University System. It is mandated by law to "assume direction of all forest interests and all matters pertaining to forestry within the jurisdiction of the state."

Brazos River Authority
The Brazos River Authority's mission is to be the provider of choice for water resources in the Brazos River basin with a strong commitment to excellence in customer services, stewardship and innovative leadership; focused on meeting the needs of our current and future customers, citizens, and employees.

Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA)
The LCRA provides electricity, water, and other services to all or part of 58 counties in Central and Southwest Texas.
